The ending of the series is a bit of a disappointment, but it allows you to imagine what might happen later on. Overall it's a good series, 13 episodes long i believe.

Elfen Lied contains much gore, as well as comedy and some very sad scenes.
It is an uncensored anime with lots of blood,
However beware, there is a bit of nudity in it, but its done quite tastefully.
The story is quite bleak and depressing, but worth the watch.
